Scope and Contents
This collection consists of images of various Quaker meetinghouses across the world, collected at various times from various sources, by the Friends Historical Library of Swarthmore College. The bulk of the collection is photographs of meetinghouses in the United States. There are also a large number of photographs of meetinghouses in Canada and Great Britain, and a small number of "foreign" meetinghouses outside these areas. The vast bulk of the collection is photographs but there are also some artworks on paper.

Biographical / Historical
Most Quakers use the term "meetinghouse" or "meeting house" to describe the building where they meet for worship. Most meetinghouses are plain, without steeples or adornment, and none are consecrated. Some 20th and 21st century Quakers, especially in the Evangelical Quaker tradition, prefer the term "church."

This collection is arranged in three groups. Within each group, the photographs are arranged by meeting name, alphabetically.

- Foreign meetinghouses (outside U.S., Canada, and Great Britain)
