Scope and Contents
This ledger accounts for the "Permanent Fund," a successful effort to raise a $50,000 endowment for scholarships that would support the reopening of the Haverford School in 1848 following its closure in 1845. The ledger, maintained by Treasurer Isaiah Hacker, is divided into a number of sections, beginning on pages 1-9 with the details of the fundraising subscription, the sale of stock at $100 per share.
