Scope and Contents

This folder contains a September 1, 1829, letter from Morris & Waln to Moses Q. Wood discussing commodity prices and the purchase of one hundred and fifty hogsheads of corn meal and making a draft on Moses Q. Wood for thirty days; a September 15, 1829, letter from Morris & Waln to Moses Q. Wood noting that the meal had been shipped and the bill of lading had been sent; a September 16, 1829, letter to Moses Q. Wood by an unknown party (possibly John F. Delaplaine & Co.); a September 17, 1829, letter from Waln & Morris to Moses Q. Wood, asking him to deliver the hogsheads of cornmeal to George Barclay; a September 18, 1829 letter to Waln & Morris from John F. Delaplaine & Co. of New York stating that "for available consideration Mr. Moses Q. Wood has endorsed & delivered to us, the bill of lading for eighty hhds of corn meal shipped by you p Sch. New York Capt. Lippincott & that we consider it proper to notify you hereof."; a September 23, 1829, letter from E.N. Bridges to Lippincott instructing him not to deliver the corn meal according to the bill of lading "but hold & deliver the same subject to the order of Messrs Waln & Morris & they will indemnify you from all loss & trouble."; and June 15, 1830, letters to Moses Q. Wood and John F. Delaplaine putting an order on Delaplaine to place the balance of the corn meal shipped to St. Thomas on account of Moses Q. Wood for Waln & Morris.
