Scope and Contents
This ledger includes two types of cash transactions: cash and checks provided by the Treasurer J. Henry Scattergood to reimburse various expenses, and cash income received by the Treasurer. The left-hand pages are cash and check amounts in two columns. The left column lists the cash and checks issued. The right column lists various expenditures: wages, farm, lawn, repairs and improvements, provisions, incidentals, infirmary, observatory, gymnasium, laboratories, fuel and light, and library. The right-hand pages list income in two columns. The left column lists more detailed accounts of the sources of income, much of which was coming from tuition and board. The right column is a summary of the cash received by the Treasurer.
