Price, Philip B. (b. 1824). Journals, 1834 - 1836
Scope and Contents
Two soft cover journals. Written when Philip Price was 10 to 12 years old, the journals provide news of the family's daily life and attending Quaker meetings. Price was the son of Benjamin and Jane (Paxson) Price of Birmingham Monthly Meeting. He recorded that his father accompanied John Comly on a religious visit to Friends in Ohio and Indiana Yearly Meetings and mentioned Quaker friends and family, including Nathan Sharpless, John Jackson, Darlingtons, Kirks and many others. He married Ellen M. Sattherthwait and was disowned in 1847 by Birmingham Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) for attending Hicksite meeting. He later served in the Civil War.
