Haverford College Building Fund subscription ledger, 1875

 Item — Volume: 155

Scope and Contents

This ledger contains the subscriptions made for the construction of Barclay Hall in 1875. Text at the start of the volume describes the need for an additional building on campus that would provide room for "private Studies, each for two students; a Museum, in which the mineralogical, geological, and other collections in Natural History could be effectively displayed and conveniently studied; and commodious and well-ventilated Recitation Rooms. On the completion of the new edifice, it is proposed to remodel the original building [Founders Hall], and render it better adapted to the wants of the College."

(Adapted from a report by G. Richard Wynn, Emeritus Vice President of Finance and Administration)
