Scope and Contents
The Haverford College Physical Plant and Facilities Management records include annual reports, surveys and assessment reports of campus spaces and facilities, renovation and improvement plans, and grant reports pertaining to the Haverford College Physical Plant Department. The collection includes materials related to planning for the North Dormitories and a guest facility and materials surrounding the renovation of Stokes Hall and Founders Hall. It also includes reports pertaining to space usage in buildings, facilities needs assessment, maintenance management studies, and a barrier removal plan to bring the College into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). There is also a report and set of materials studies related to various buildings on campus that were produced in 2004 as the result of grant that was part of the Getty Campus Heritage Initiative.
Although the Arboretum is organized as a division under the Physical Plant Department/Facilities Management Department, Arboretum Association records are processed as a separate collection (HCC.001).

Historical Note
Haverford College's Physical Plant Department was the predecessor of the current Facilities Management Department. During the time period that most of the records in this collection were produced, the Physical Plant Department was organized into divisions representing Maintenance, Housekeeping, the Arboretum, and Projects. In its mission statement from the early 1990s, the Physical Plant Department is identified as being being "responsible for creating, maintaining, and operating a physical environment that enhances the learning, teaching, and research activities of Haverford College."
