Letters from two Stockbridge peoples - Catherine Solomon and Peter Okasangtgue - thanking Josepth Clark for the return of four young women who had left Indian Country with Quakers in order to recieve a western education; as well as a letter of appreciation to the Quakers from a Native woman named Gracy Crosley. Richard Mott (1767-1856) was a distinguished Quaker minister from Mamaroneck. Gift of New York Yearly Meeting, 1997.

Copy of ms. mission work among the Stockbridge-Munsee Community Band of Mohican Indians, Oneida, Tuscarora, and Brothertown Indians (including women); including reports, some letters to and from, Joseph Clark’s certificate delivered to the Yearly Meeting’s Committee on Indian Affairs, Brotherton, N.Y., Oct. 19, 1801.

Describing the meeting at Buffalo Creek between a missionary of the Boston Missionary Society and the chiefs of the Six Nations, during which the Seneca chief Red Jacket rejects his precept of only one religion, but say they will wait to see if the missionary’s preaching to their white neighbors "makes them honest and less disposed to cheat Indians."
