Biographical / Historical
Flushing Monthly Meeting was established in 1818 by Short Creek Quarterly Meeting from Flushing Preparative Meeting, Freeport Preparative Meeting, and Guernsey Preparative Meeting (previously branches of Plainsfield Monthly Meeting). Flushing Monthly Meeting split in 1828, and the Hicksite branch changed its name to Freeport Monthly Meeting in 1865; it was laid down in 1865. The Orthodox branch retained the name Flushing Monthly Meeting until it was... laid down in 1960.
