The Cornelius Vermeule papers contain the professional papers of Cornelius Vermeule, a former Assistant Professor of Classical Archaeology at Bryn Mawr College and Curator of Classical Art at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, where he was regarded as an authority on Greco-Roman art and numismatics. This small collection of Civil War correspondence consists of letters of a Hicksite Quaker family of West Chester, Pennsylvania, received by Eugene Vickers while he was serving with Company C of the 97th Regiment of Pennsylvania Volunteers in the coastal South.
