Biographical / Historical
Scipio Preparative Meeting was established by Farmingtown Monthly Meeting in 1803. In 1828 it divided into Orthodox and Hicksite branches. In 1847 the Orthodox branch underwent a further schism between the Gurneyites (Orthodox) and the Wilburites; in 1859 the Wilburite branch divided further into Otisite and Kingite groups. The Otisite branch began to meet in joint session in 1868 and was laid down in 1879.
