Biographical / Historical

Abington Preparative Meeting was organized in 12 mo. 1701/2 under Abington Monthly Meeting. By 1815, it was the only preparative meeting under the Monthly Meeting. At the time of the Hicksite Separation in 1827, two preparative meetings were formed. The Orthodox branch was discontinued in 1875, and its members were attached to Horsham Preparative Meeting. The Hicksite preparative meeting was discontinued in 1943. At that time, Abington Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) assumed all its responsibilities.
