Biographical / Historical

Birmingham Preparative Meeting was established in 12mo 1726/1727 by Concord Monthly Meeting. In 1827, at the time of the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, two preparative meetings emerged. Birmingham Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1922. Its members were transferred to West Chester Preparative Meeting (Orthodox). Birmingham Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) became Birmingham Monthly Meeting at Birmingham in 1956, at the dissolution of Birmingham Monthly Meeting (Hicksite).
