Biographical / Historical
A meeting for worship at Chester Neck was established by 1679 under the care of Third Haven Monthly Meeting. It was transferred to Cecil Monthly Meeting in 1698. The preparative meeting was established before 1718. From very early times, this meeting is mentioned frequently as "Chester" in the minute books of Cecil Monthly Meeting. It is never designated as "Chester Neck". At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, two branches of this meeting emerged. The Orthodox branch was discontinued in 1828. The meeting for worship was transferred to Motherkiln Monthly Meeting in 1828 and was discontinued in 1831. The Hicksite preparative meeting was discontinued in 1860, and its members were transferred to Cecil Monthly Meeting. The meeting for worship was probably discontinued around 1863
