Biographical / Historical
Goshen Preparative Meeting was established circa 1703. In 1827, after the Hicksite separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. Goshen Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1891; its members were transferred to Whiteland Preparative Meeting. Goshen Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was established as Goshen Monthly Meeting at the dissolution of the original Hicksite monthly meeting. In 1956, the second Goshen Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) merged with Goshen Monthly Meeting at Malvern, the former Orthodox meeting, to form the present-day Goshen Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.
