Biographical / Historical

An indulged meeting of Providence was established by Gwynedd Monthly Meeting in 1716. It was known as "Perquioman" from 1716 to ca. 1737; after 1737, this meeting is called "Providence" or, occasionally, "New Providence." Providence Preparative Meeting was established after 1733 but before 1741. The Orthodox preparative meeting was discontinued in 1827. Its members were attached to Plymouth Preparative Meeting. The meeting for worship was discontinued in 1828. Providence Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued in 1866; its members were attached to Norristown Preparative Meeting. An indulged meeting at Providence was established by Gwynedd Monthly Meeting in 1866 and discontinued in 1868
