Records of the Pre-Separation and Hicksite preparative meetings include: minutes of the men's meeting and later, of joint sessions with women, 1830-1942; women's minutes, 1839-1891; papers concerning financial and property matters, 1876-1939; First Day School minutes, 1909-1926; First Day School attendance record, 1908-1918; Philanthropic Committee papers, 1931-1935; Media Friends' Association minutes, 1894-1908.

Biographical / Historical
Providence Preparative Meeting was established in 12mo 1698/9. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, two branches of this meeting were formed. Providence Preparative Meeting (Orthodox) was discontinued in 1828, and its members were transferred to Springfield Preparative Meeting. Providence Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was transferred to Providence Monthly Meeting in 1934. The meeting was discontinued in 1942, and its business was assumed by Providence Monthly Meeting.
