Scope and Contents
The bulk of the records of Friends Conflict Resolution Programs consist of case files of the many programs it sponsored. Included in the files are syllabi, notes, press clippings, and a variety of other documents. Series 2, Programs and Case Files, is sorted chronologically by year, with the contents of the folders maintained as originally arranged by the creator.
Includes financial and other administrative files, programs and case files, and material related to the publication of the Mediator's Handbook, 1974-1991. Arrangement of series is as follows: 1. Administrative files; 2. Programs and Case files; 3. Publications; 4. Miscellaneous.

Biographical / Historical
Friends Conflict Resolution Programs, part of the Friends Suburban Project from 1977 to 1983, began as an attempt to utilize Quaker insights to address and solve disputes in local communities. Initially named the Friends Mediation Service, the Friends Conflict Resolution Programs acquired its current title in 1991. Its mediators work with both Quaker and non-Quaker organizations and communities and have published two manuals, The Mediator's Handbook (1982) and Peacemaking In Your Neighborhood (1986). In 1998, at the time of the reorganization of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the Friends Conflict Resolution Programs were placed under the Peace and Concerns Standing Committee.
