Biographical / Historical

Woodbury Monthly Meeting was established in 1784 by Salem Quarterly Meeting. The first business sessions were held in 1785.

Woodbury split into Orthodox and Hicksite branches in the 1828 Separation, and the Orthodox monthly meeting was transferred to Haddonfield and Salem Quarterly Meeting (Orthodox) in 1904 while the Hicksite meeting remained with Salem Quarterly Meeting (Hicksite).

In 1954, the Hicksite Woodbury's Upper Greenwich Preparative Meeting

In 1954, Upper Greenwich Preparative Meeting at Mickleton was set off from Woodbury (Hicksite) as Mickleton Monthly Meeting. The remaining members of Woodbury (Hicksite) merged with Woodbury (Orthodox) to form a united Woodbury Monthly Meeting, which co-reported to Hadonfield and Salem Quarterly Meeting (Orthdox) and Salem Quarterly Meeting (Hicksite). Once the two yearly meetings and their quarterlies were united in 1955, Woodbury Meeting reported solely to the united Salem Quarterly Meeting.

Woodbury Monthly Meeting is an active meeting.
