Abstract

This small collection consists of papers that were enclosed in the Jacob Tagart pocket book, 1769 (see FHL Relics Collection). Possibly the family of William and Elizabeth (McFarlan) Taggart of Chester County, Pennsylvania. It includes: Joshua Tagart promissory note, 1755; John McFarlan (East Marlborough, Chester County, Penna.), 1802; record book of Newlin family births and deaths, 1811-1833; "Vision of Joseph Hoag" newspaper clipping, undated; and... McFarland and Stern clan reunion newspaper clipping, ca. 1875.

This file was F.I.C. in 2025 with a note "MacFarland/Tagart pocketbook contents, relics # 979." It appears this item was renumbered # 205 in the interim. # 205 acquisition note is "Anonymous."

Relics #205 for the leather pocketbook that these items were removed from. The following are still stored with relics: A small note with the text, "Agreeably to the Requisition of the President of the United States, take Notice, that you are to hold yourself in Readiness to march at a moment's warning. November 13th, 1797."; and three bills: (1) Twenty shillings note from 1773, printed by Hall and Sellers. (2) 25-cent note from 1874. (3) 50-cent bill (in multiple pieces), extremely fragile.
