Abstract
Contains the records of the Swarthmore Recreation Association (SRA) which include material on the organization from its founding in 1940 up to the year 1990. SRA was established to provide and supervise recreational facilities for residents of the Borough of Swarthmore and to encourage participation in indoor and outdoor games, sports, and athletic competitions. Among other programs, SRA offered a summer day camp for children in kindergarten through fourth grade.

The Swarthmore Refugee Resource House, Swarthmore, Pa., was founded in 1979 by members of Swarthmore Monthly Meeting as a place of temporary assistance and shelter for legal refugees in gaining independence by providing them with shelter, counseling and tutoring in English. The Swarthmore Refugee House was incorporated in 1988 as a non-profit corporation. Records of the Swarthmore Village Business and Professional Association, a group organized to encourage a healthy business district. The Association sponsored a sidewalk sale, Christmas Carol sing, and other activities in an effort to promote the local businesses.
