This volume contains two copies in the same hand of the account of the charge against Anne, Thomas, and Phebe Willis before Jericho Preparative and Monthly Meetings and their defense of their views; the first version includes a copy of the essay written and signed in their defense, and the second version omits the essay but includes more detail about Elias Hicks' remarks.

Abstract

The beginning of the manuscript of Jeffrey Smedley, entitled "Notes on Early Friends Attending Meetings," was used to record financial transactions, but the majority of the volume describes testimony given by various Quakers at Meetings for worship, arranged chronologically. Many of the entries are related to Elias Hicks.

Taylor Family papers

Abstract

This collection traces several generations of the Quaker Taylor family, but centers on Francis R. Taylor (1884-1947) and George Washington Taylor (1803-1891). The former was an attorney and collector of information about his own and related families, as well as local historical information. The latter, who ran a free produce store in Philadelphia in the period before the American Civil War, was connected through his interests in free labor to many correspondents.

Thomas Willis writings relating to the Separation and Quaker testimonies
