This file contains a letter from Norwood Penrose in Burlington, New Jersey, to Luke W. Morris. Penrose asks Morris to send him shirts and notes that "There has been several robberies commited here since I was down and there has been several coloured persons suspected and they are strangers too there has been a great number of blacks coming here every day and the people do not like it, they come one or two together."

Scope and Contents This file contains shipping papers pertaining to the Schooner "Hebe," which traveled from Philadelphia to Puerto Rico and Cuba in 1817. The papers indicate that James Elliott, Jr. was at least partial owner of the "Hebe" and that sundries were sold "for account of Mr. James Elliott by order of Samuel B. Morris, merchant."
